In the News... Our Take
Blame Hitler... The Middle East is a mess, and we can trace
most of the problems back to ol' Adolph and his buddies. IF Hitler lays
off the "master race" plan, the rest of the world isn't nearly that upset
that Hebrews don't have a homeland. Jews quietly practicing their
religion in what is now Israel continue to do so as the minority in that
region, Palestinians and other Arabs don't have a big problem with
them, and for the most part, everyone is content.
BUT, ol' Adolph does what he does, the UN forms and decides that
Hebrews need a safe haven (creates Israel), and Israel welcomes
Jews from all over the planet. Some are there to continue to quietly
practice their beliefs, some are there to get their piece of the pie, and
most of them are not very popular with the Palestinians and other
Arabs who had been there all along. The UN's newly formed country
is so widely embraced by its neighbors, that within days it is being
attacked from every Arab direction. The UN steps back in, offers a
helping hand, and for the next 50 years is the only thing from keeping
Israel from being swallowed up by those neighbors.
After awhile, Israel gets tired of having to be 'on guard' all the time
and pre-empts a possible attack back in 1967 by going on the
offensive. They get lots of land that isn't really theirs. They keep it
and further piss off the Palestinians. They treat Palistinians like shit.
The Palestinians, who don't have the backing of the UN and are poorly
organized, lash out from time to time against the Jews. Yasar Arafat is
deeemed the best of the worst of the Palistinian leaders, and emerges
as the point man. Is he a good man? No. Was he the best possible
candidate for the Throne? Who knows, probably not.
Back to the Jews. It's like the little brother who kept getting picked
on by the neighborhood kids. He comes home with a bloody nose
one day, and big brother goes out and kicks some ass. After that, the
little brother knows he's safe, and occassionally takes after some of
the other kids with a stick, knowing full well they won't really retaliate
for fear of the big brother coming back. Sometimes he is justified,
sometimes he's now the bully.
Our View... You can't treat people like animals and then be surprised
when they bite back (no matter how despicable the rodent may be).
You can't take land that wasn't set aside for you and continue to build
on that land (with Federal dollars that are essentially free money
given to you by UN nations). The UN made this country, it needs to
coerce Israel to return to it's designed borders. If Israel refuses, let's
see how well they do without UN dollars or military backing.
Palistenians and Jews will NEVER get along. There is simply too much
history and bad blood between these people. Israel either needs to
concede land to the Palestinians (who prior to WWII were the huge
majority of people in that region), or simply kick every Palestinian out
of the country. Work out a deal with some other 'not as hostile nation'
to take them. It's Israels country, let them figure out what to do. OR,
perhaps the UN should step back in and influence a neighboring
nation to take them, for a nice severance package.
President Bush's call in late June for a new Palestinian leader was a
good move. The best part of the message was the timetable for
which a Palestinan State could happen. It gives the Palistenians
hope. In our country people are treated like people with rights, no
matter how lowly they may be viewed as. If we are funding Israel, we
should at least demand that they deal with their lowly as we would.
The repercussions of Hitler's actions over 60 years ago are still felt
today. His atrocities shocked the world. The solution then is the
hotspot now. Arab nations see the Palistinian plight as their call to
action. Whitey's Pub doesn't agree with the vehicle for action they
have chosen. Whitey's Pub can see however, why they are so bitter
and angry, and can also see that this problem will continue to shock
the world until a viable solution is found. It will not go away left
untreated, and left untreated Arab extremists will have cause they
feel is worth fighting and dying for.
